What We're Voting On
Why We Support Cascadia
- Cascadia is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create new jobs, attract hundreds of millions of dollars in new tax revenues, and reinvest back into Greeley – without raising taxes.
- The City of Greeley will own the entire entertainment district, including an 8,500 seat arena and secondary arena for new concerts and sporting events, resort hotel, and year-round indoor water park.
- The district is intentionally designed to be a magnet for visitors, and a source of new jobs, spaces, and activities for Greeley residents.
- An independent economic impact study estimates Cascadia will create nearly 5,200 new jobs and generate nearly $3 billion in new spending and taxable revenue in its first 10 years.
Nearly $3 Billion Impact in 10 Years
- Independent market analysis shows that Cascadia will be one of the largest job- and revenue-creators in Greeley's history – without raising taxes on residents.
- The district is expected to begin operations in 2028, with an expected economic impact of $2.92 billion in the first ten years of operation.
- This equates to $2+ billion return on our investment over the district's estimated cost of $832 million.
- During the construction phase alone, the project will inject nearly $738 million in new spending into Greeley.
Fixing Highway 34
- Highway 34 is a mess, and hitting the roads at the wrong time can lead to an extra hour or more in traffic.
- $56 million in planned improvements – to be paid by the developers – are earmarked for Highway 34 and the CR 17 interchange if the development proceeds on schedule.
- The developer – not taxpayers – will pay $95 million in total roadway improvements before the district is built, which ensures everyone benefits from less congestion and safer roads.
- Once built, the new entertainment district will help fund a new interchange, overpass, and a mobility hub connecting west Greeley with Downtown.
Long-Term Financial Stability
- A project like Cascadia relies on anchor tenants (long-term tenants capable of generating significant visitor traffic) to provide financial stability and to generate new revenue.
- Arena Anchor Tenant: The City of Greeley is expected to sign the reigning Pacific Division champion Colorado Eagles to an historic 40-year lease – the longest of its kind in Colorado.
- Independent analysis estimates the Eagles will generate more than $9 million annually in new revenue to Greeley, beginning with its inaugural season in 2028.
- The new Water Park Anchor Tenant will be announced by the City of Greeley this spring, and is conservatively estimated to generate $10+ million each year in new revenue to Greeley.
Iconic NoCo
- Cascadia is poised to become a major tourist attraction that brings visitors and visitor spending to Greeley: for each $1 a Greeley resident will spend there, visitors will spend $5!
- Beyond the economics, Cascadia creates something Greeley doesn’t have today: a major gathering place close to home that we can call our own.
- The new concert and sports arena will host 200+ events each year, including concerts, hockey games, ice shows, sporting events, monster truck rallies, and so much more.
- Youth hockey will be front and center, with a total of four NHL-sized ice rinks and new training facilities for games, tournaments, and training camps.
